NFL Mock Draft Version 3.0 (Round 3)

Stl- Colt McCoy, QB, Texas
Just in case the Rams don’t trade for Vick or Josh Johnson, McCoy brings a winning attitude and mobility to a Rams team in rebuilding mode.  While his weight in and measurement today left him a bit short (6’1” while listed at 6’2”), he still has high levels of intangibles and Drew Brees’ success to help float his sinking draft status.
Det- Jon Asamoah, OG, Illinois
Asamoah is a great value pick in the third round.  While he is a little undersized for the power run scheme that the Lions want to transition to, there is no questioning his understanding of schemes.
TB- Brandon Lang, DE, Troy
Lang’s size and speed (6’4” 260 lbs) makes him a perfect Tampa 2 rush end, however his lack of durability makes the FSB nervous.  However, his upside is quite high and Tampa is in need of a pass rush after dealing the late Gaines Adams.
KC- Jordan Shipley, WR, Texas
Scott Pioli gets his Wes Welker as Shipley should fit nicely into the slot position of Todd Haley’s offense
Was- Forfeied in Compensatory Draft for DE Jeremy Jarmon
Oak- Joe McKnight, RB, USC
They constanty fall in love with physical ability, and while their runners are all have incredible potential McFadden is always hurt and hasn’t shown the big play ability and word on the street is that the Raider’s coaches are fed up with Michael Bush running out of gas whenever he gets on a roll.
Phi (Sea)- Amari Spievey, CB, Iowa
Quality depth behind already solid (but aging starters).  Spievey’s great size and experience (26 consecutive starts) make him a solid pick for a Seahawk secondary lacking depth, however his burst is questionable.
Cle- Chad Jones, S, LSU
This truly is a steal.  The number one safety recruit coming out of high school, Chad Jones can flat out fly (as evident through him running down Darren Mcfadden from behind during his freshman year).
Buf- Brandon LaFell, WR, LSU
Lets’ be honest here, outside of Lee Evans the Bills lack any receiving threats which will help keep 8 out of the box for Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch.  LaFell has the size an ability to be a nice possession complinent Evans’ deep threat style.  Unfortunately for Buffalo, their Pick of James Hardy a couple seasons ago has seemed to not have panned out making LaFell an even better pick.
Mia- Thaddeus Gibson, DE/OLB, Ohio State
The Dolphins will obviously release Joey Porter after March 5th as they tried to do it once already.  While Porter is old and expensive, he still brings somewhat of a threat for opposing OT’s to worry about so replacing him will be no walk in the park.  Gibson has the perfect size and style for a 3-4 OLB, and his production was deflated by playing out of position his senior year (DE instead of OLB as he played earlier in his career).
Jax-  Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
Jack Del Rio’s constant comments about David Garrard not being a franchise QB will eventually lead to a front office move.  Luckily for the Jags, Tebow will at least bring some ticket sales to a franchise on the financial rocks.
Chi- Mike Williams, WR, Syracuse
If Mike Williams would have gotten his head on straight he could have been battling Dez Bryant for the #1 receiver spot in this draft.  However off field/character issues and questions to commitment have landed the Bears a potential diamond in round 3.
NYG- Vladimir Ducassee, OG, UMass
Ducassee is the definition of physical upside as his potential is through the roof; however his footwork and physical conditioning are the definition of unpolished.  In a couple years Vladimir could be a nice piece for the G-Men.
Ten- Dominique Franks, CB, Oklahoma
Cortland Finnegan is a shutdown corner, however outside of Finnegan the titans have no solid quality depth.  They are in such a bad position that they are making efforts to resign Rod Hood who they brought in mid way through the season and who had already been cut by multiple teams since the beginning of the season.  Franks has good size, and will fit well in Tennessee’s physical defensive style.
Car- Ed Dickson, TE, Oregon
The Panthers need to alleviate some pressure from Steve Smith and Dickson can help in that department.  His blocking ability showed through at the Senior Bowl increasing his value from mostly a receiver to a balanced threat.
SF- Jason Worilds, DE/OLB
San Fran does not necessarily need another pass rusher as Lawson and Lenon can hold down the fort, but depth at this premium position is always a bonus.  Worilds has strong physical intangibles, and could be a solid NFL 3-4 OLB if developed correctly and stays healthy.  The main key is his health as he had significant issues staying on the field.
Den- Taylor Price, WR, Ohio
Denver showed last season that Eddie Royal did not fit Josh McDaniel’s scheme as well as people expected and Price could be the man they are looking for to compliment Brandon Marshall (expecting that he stays in the blue and orange).
Hou- Toby Gehart, RB, Stanford
They wanted a bruising goal line and short yardage runner didn’t they?  Team Gehart’s bowling ball style with Slaton’s quickness and you have a nasty tandem for years to come….if they can stay healthy.
Pit- Al Woods, NT, LSU
The Steelers always stockpile talent along their defensive line and Woods is a couple seasons away from being a contributor anyway. The resigning of Casey Hampton will give woods time to develop and get stronger while Hampton holds down the fort.
Atl- Dennis Pitta, TE, BYU
Tony Gonzales wont be able to catch passes at an eliete level forever (ecen through he makes it seem possible).  Pitta can separate and has good hands which make him an nice recieving threat in the Matt Ryan lead offense.
Cin- Larry Asante, S, Nebraska
The drafting of Asante signals the end of the road for Roy Williams and his chronically breaking forearms.  Asante is solid enough that if asked to he could step in right away for the Bengals and contribute to an already top notch secondary.
Oak (NE)- Dan LeFevour, QB, Central Michigan
The Raider’s will eventually understand that Russell is not the QB of the future for their franchise, unfortunately LeFevour will not be ready to step in and replace him for a couple seasons.
GB- Reshad Jones, S, Georgia
While the Packers are set at FS with Nick Collins (assuming they buck up and pay him the contract he demands),  they are seriously lacking in talent at the SS position (sorry Atari Bigbi).  Solid speed and size make Jones an intriguing prospect.
Phi- Anthony Dixon, RB, Mississippi State
A nice physical compliment to the slashing LeSean McCoy, if he runs well at the combine this weekend Dixon could be taken  higher than this as he would have a unique blend of size and speed
 Bal- Jimmy Graham, TE, Miami
This draft is all about building around their franchise QB and getting younger on defense.  Flacco has no viable targets in the TE spot (Heap is always hurt, and LJ Smith is not any better in that area) and needs some assistance in order to alleviate pressure from both himself and Ray Rice.  Graham is intriguing as he is massive and has all the athleticism anyone could ask for, however he only played one season of college football as he was recruited as a basketball player to Miami.  It is also worth noting that he is a very intelligent student as he was named to the all-ACC academic team in 2006 and 2007 for basketball and is earning a double major.
Ari- Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama
Bryant McFadden was not the franchise corner the Cardinals expected they were getting from the Steelers, while we don’t feel Arenas will be either, he could develop into a nice piece for this franchise
Dal- Mike Johnson, OG, Alabama
The Dallas offensive line is getting old in a hurry and Iupati could be converted to tackle instead of guard meaning that Dallas could use another interior lineman to prepare for the future. Johnson is a great value pick at this point and his size and power fits Dallas’ “run heavy” game well.
SD- Mike Neal DE/DT, Purdue
If last season showed the Bolts anything it is that their defensive front needs improving. Neal can play 3-4 DE at the next level and would be an upgrade over incumbent Jacques Cesaire if he develops properly.
Cle (NYJ)- Ben Tate, RB, Auburn
While the Browns have Jerome Harrison and James Davis to carry their backfield into the future, Harrison is small and James Davis missed his entire rookie season due to injury.  Tate has the size and speed to carry the load as a franchise back, only time will tell if he gets the chance.
Min- Jevan Snead, QB, Ole Miss
Snead has all the tools and there is no better way to hopefully unlock those tools than to surround him with incredible talent (Peterson, Rice, Berrian, Harvin, and a solid o-line)
Ind- Greg Hardy, DE, Ole Miss
If Indy can focus Hardy, he could potentially step in very soon and replace Mathis or Freeny.  Keep in mind Hardy is easily top 15 talent, but unfortunately has shown only a top 100 attitude.
NO- Myron Rolle, S, Florida State
If Rolle would not have pursued his Rhodes Scholar opportunity, he may have been a 2nd round pick last season showing his high upside.  His size and intelligence make him a high potential player; however passion for football and a year away from the sport make him a potential risk pick.  The Saints can’t lean on Sharper forever (maybe not even past the Super Bowl as Sharper may land somewhere else in free agency) and Rolle would be a nice replacement.

NFL Mock Draft Version 3.0 (Rd2)

Stl- Maurikce Pouncey, C, Florida
Great value in the second round for the Rams as Pouncey can play both center and Guard
and combined with Jason Smith/Jason Brown makes a solid offensive base for the Rams
to build around.
Det- Donovan Warren, CB, Michigan
While Detroit has taken strides to improve on offense, their secondary corner position has been greatly ignored. Warren injects youth into an underachieving and aging weakness for the Lions.
TB- Navorro Bowman, OLB, Penn State
Bowman is the perfect Tampa 2 linebacker and while Quincy Black did an admirable job
filling in for the once great Derrick Brooks, Bowman can be the next Brooks if he
develops to his full potential.
KC- Terrence Cody, NT, Alabama
A 3-4 defense is only as good as its nose tackle, and as you could see by their performance last season Ron Edwards is not the answer. MT Cody brings massive size and surprising quickness to a defense desperately searching for an anchor.
Was- Brandon Spikes, ILB, Florida
Washington is switching to a 3-4 this upcoming season and while London Fletcher-Baker is solidified at one MLB spot, HB Blades lacks the instincts and intangibles to make up for his diminutive size like Fletcher-Baker does.
Cle- Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
Brady Quinn loves his receiving tight ends (John Carlson, Kellen Winslow) and if Mike Holmgren is serious about giving Quinn 32 starts, he needs to give him the tools to succeed as well. Gresham brings soft hands and great size to an underperforming offense.
Oak- Everson Griffin, DE, USC
Griffin makes up for passing on a rush end in the first round as Richard Seymour and
Greg Ellis won’t last forever.
Sea- Taylor Mays, S, USC
Born and raised in Seattle while also being coached his entire career by Pete Carroll makes this pick a fit. Not to mention Seattle’s immediate need at SS (Deion Grant is good…but upgradable).
TB(Chi)- Golden Tate, WR
A franchise QB (Josh Freeman) requires weapons around him to improve. Unfortunately for Freeman, Michael Clayton and Maurice Stovall are nothing more than big bodies and solid run blockers. Tate will bring an element of explosiveness and consistency to an inconsistent offense.
Buf- Selvish Capers, OT
No matter who the QB is for Buffalo (Jimmy C, Trent Edwards, or other wards), they will need somebody to protect their backside. While Capers is not worthy of an immediate start, he is a potential upgrade over Jonathan Scott who was not even good enough to make it in Detroit.
Mia- Jon Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech
Ronnie Brown just suffered his second major knee injury, is a free agent, and the wheels will eventually fall off of Ricky Williams. Dwyer is a versatile big back with good feet and strong potential to be the wildcat/power back that the Tuna is searching for.
NE (Jax)- Aaron Hernandez, TE,Florida
Ben Watson was a let down during his tenure in New England and will most likely not be resigned. Hernandez is closer to being a big reciever than a blocking TE, which is exactly what the Patriots spread offense calls for.
Den- Lamaar Houston, DT/DE, Texas
Lamaar is a strong penetrating 3-4 DE which is a need for the Broncos as Kenny Peterson is old enough that he played football with Coach Josh McDaniels.
NYG- Sean Lee, ILB, Penn State
The Giants require a replacement for the recently released Antonio Pierce, Lee be an strong replacement for Pierce while also allowing for improved pass coverage and a more versatile linebacking core alongside Michael Boley and the high upside Clint Sintim.
NE (Ten)- Alex Carrington, DE, Arkansas State
Carrington will be a nice replacement for an aging Ty Warren or Jarvis Green.
Car- Dezmon Briscoe, WR, Kansas
Briscoe will be a great compliment to Steve Smith as his blend of size (6’2) speed (potential 4.4 40) and durability (did not miss a start in 3 years) will help solidify the #2 receiver position in Carolina.
SF- Jahvid Best, RB, Cal
Frank Gore is a franchise running back there is no doubt about that, but constant wear and tear are beginning to show as Gore seems to miss games each season. Also, Best (a local product) will bring a new explosive element to an already high potential offensive.
KC (Atl)- Rob Gronkowski, TE, Arizona
Leonard Pope/Sean Ryan is not the answer, and unfortunately for Matt Cassell, his offensive line does not always protect him enough for Dwayne Bowe to get open, Gronkowski can help alleviate the pressure on Cassell and open up the Chiefs offense.
Hou- Perrish Cox, CB, Oklahoma State
If Dunta Robinson cannot be brought back at a discount rate (as he is not going to be
franchised) the Texans will need a franchise corner to compliment their incredible
offense.
Pit- Chris Cook, CB, Virginia
If last season showed the Steelers anything it was that their corners cannot cause
Turnovers, Cook will help change this.
Cin- Anthony McCoy, TE, USC
Spiller in round 1 helps open up the offense, however as Carson Palmer’s arm strength seems to be decreasing with constant elbow injuries, an underneath target who can compensate for his mistakes could help stabilize the Bengal’s offense
NE- Dexter McCluster, RB, Ole Miss
The Patriots can always use more explosion in their offense, especially from their running game. McCluster could be the new and improved Kevin Faulk.
GB- Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida St
Charles Woodson is 33 years old and will eventually drop off in play and Tramon Williams needs a partner in crime in the secondary for the upcoming seasons.
Phi- Nate Allen, S, South Florida
Dawkins is not easily replicable, but Nate Allen and his incredible upside will give it a pretty good shot.
Bal- Corey Wooton, DE, Northwestern
Trevor Price, Dwan Edwards, and Justin Bannan are all on the wrong side of 30 and Wooton has a nonstop motor just like the Ravens love.
Ari- Tony Washington, OT, Abilene Christian
Even if Leinart is not the answer at QB, their eventual solution will need protection in order to stay upright and Mike Gandy is unlikely to be brought back. While not the most polished blocker, Washington has a high upside and has quick feet allowing him to be a strong fit in Arizona’s pass happy offense.
Dal- Mardy Gilyard, WR, Cincinatti
While there is no solution to the Roy Williams contract debacle, Gilyard will be a nice replacement for an aging Patrick Creighton in the slot and as a returner.
SD- Damian Williams, WR, USC
While the chargers do not need another receiver, they are a team without an incredible
glaring need (as Tomlinson has been replaced with Ryan Matthews). Williams will allow
the chargers an underneath receiving presence outside of Antonio Gates, and negotiating
power in Malcolm Floyd’s contract.
NYJ- Demaryius Thomas, WR, Georgia Tech
Thomas is a physical freak of nature who was reportedly running sub 4.4 40 yard dashes
before he fractured his foot training for the combine. Had he been in an offense which
had a semblance of a passing game who knows where Thomas would have gone.
unfortunately for the Jets, Thomas will need time to learn more routs but his physical
talents are undeniable.
Min- Cam Thomas, DT, UNC
The Williams wall will only last so long (especially since Pat Williams just announced he
Will reture once his contract expires at the end of the season) and Cam Thomas (6’4”,
331lbs) is an ideal fill in for Pat.
Ind- Eldwin Veldheer, OT, Hillsdale
Tony Ugoh does not seem to be the answer at LT and Charlie Johnson may be a one year flash in the pan. Veldheer offers long term upside and more run blocking potential then either of the current Colt OT’s.
NO- Tyson Alaulau, DT/DE, Cal
Remi Ayodel was an adequate starter for the champion Saints this past season, but Alaulau is an upgrade and the Saints should be doing everything they can to maximize the production and potential of franchise DT Sedrick Ellis.

NFL Mock Draft Version 3.0

NFL Mock Draft RD 1
Stl- Ndamukong Suh , DT, Nebraska
They need a Franchise QB, but with none available, they take another premiere DT prospect.
Det- Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
Jim Schwartz adds a pass rushing DT to 4-3. Another option is a left tackle to protect Stafford.
TB- Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
While it is evident that Tampa is looking to snag either McCoy or Suh to be the penetrating DT their scheme loves, Eric Berry has unlimited potential as a playmaker and is a great pick at 3.
Was- Sam Bradford, QB
Jason Campbell isn’t a convincing starter to impatient Redskins fans, Shanahan gets his franchise QB.
KC- Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma St.
The Chiefs are impatient with the development of Brendon Albert, and want to protect their franchise QB investment now.
Sea- Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
Walter Jones is either retiring or close to it and Sean Locklear is a joke…this is a must for the health of any Seahawk QB
Cle- Jason Pierre Paul, DE , South Florida
JPP’s athletic ability is unbelievable, check out his amazing 16 consecutive back flips on YouTube.
Oak- Bruce Campbell, OT
If Al Davis is dead set on having Russell as his QB he should be set on protecting him as well.  Campbell is the most Raider like pick with his high athletic upside and unpolished techniques.
Buf- Jimmy Claussen, QB
Buffalo needs stronger QB play, and Claussen would bring some more excitement/ intrigue to the team if T.O. leaves.
Jax- Derrick Morgan, DE, Geogia Tech
A team that lacked any pass rush gets a guy with low athletic upside but a never-ending motor and good leverage/quickness to pressure Peyton Manning.
Den (Chi)- Dan Williams, NT
Denver reaches to get a nose tackle to anchor their 3-4 defense.
Mia- Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama
Parcells loves the linebacker, from Willie McGinnest to Bobby Carpenter, the Tuna picks em’ in the first wherever he goes. McClain may be the best of them all because of his athletic upside.
SF (Car)- Trent Williams, RT
The Line could be improved on the team that ranks 30th in yards a game, and 28th in points per game.  Adam Snyder is not the answer at RT.
Sea (Den)- Joe Haden, CB, Florida
Kelly Jennings is a FA and unlikely to be back, and Josh Wilson is 5’9” standing on a phone book.  Hayden is solid and gives the hawks a solid 1-3 corner set
NYG- Sergio Kindle, DE/OLB
Kindle will help perk up a pass rush on a team where Osi wants out and Kiwi showing himself to be a solid but unspectacular compliment to Justin Tuck.
Ten- Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
If Dunlap ever gets his head on straight and finds a consistent motor, he could be a dominant 4-3 end, something Tennesee has not had for a long time.
SF- Kareem Jackson, CB Alabama
Cover corners are always in high demand, especially for a team which leans on aging veteran Walt Harris, and steadily declining Nate Clements for shut down production.
Pit- Brian Bulaga. OT
Doesn’t it seem that they always need an offensive line upgrade?
Atl- Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State
Atlanta’s Pass defense was awful, and Brent Grimes is not the answer.  Kyle Wilson is a small school prospect with amazing upside at the next level.
Hou- Earl Thomas, S, Texas
A home grown product with abilities among the elite, Thomas is both a local favorite and fills a gigantic void alongside last season’s surprise in Bernard Pollard.
Cin- C.J. Spiller, RB
Explosion alongside of Benson’s consistency and OchoCinco’s mouth ?  this could be an interesting Bengals offense.
NE- Dez Bryant, WR
Moss is not getting any younger and Dez Bryant is a physical freak worth investing in.
GB- Charles Brown, OT, USC
Aaron Rogers has seen quite enough of opposing pass rushers on top of him…Brown will help stabilize an underpreforming Packer o-line
Phi- Brandon Graham, DE
They sure do love a good pass rusher dont they.
Bal- Arrelouis Benn, WR, Illinois
Baltimore needs a #1 receiver to help the development of Joe Flacco.
Ari- Ricky Sapp, DE/OLB
Berry has retired, Dansby is a FA, and Okefor is old…don’t forget that Sapp has amazing upside as a 3-4 OLB.
Dal- Mike Iupati, G/ T
That Dallas offensive line always seems to love getting bigger…Iupati is big, athletic, and has the potential of a Leonard Davis.
SD- Ryan Matthews, RB
LT is gone and Sporles isn’t an every down back and it’d be a waste to franchise him with Merriman pending free agency.
NYJ- Brian Price, DT/DE, UCLA
Marques Douglas is upgradable for sure and Rex Ryan could always use another defensive presence.
Min- Devin McCourty, CB
Cedric Griffin tore his ACL late in the season, and Antoine Winfield is pushing 30, you do the math.
Ind- Jared Odrick, DT/DE , Penn State
Odrick would be a high motor penetrating DT for an efficient Indy front
NO- Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Mizzou
Perfect size, speed, and leadership qualities to pair alongside of Vilma, Fujita and Shanle are solid, but Spoon could be spectacular.
